The Taipei Marathon sets an entry cap of 9,000 participants for its full marathon category, attracting a strong and ever-improving field each year. Race statistics highlight the remarkable progress among runners: in 2021, 272 runners completed the marathon in under 3 hours, and 2,692 finished under 4 hours. In 2022, these numbers rose to 417 and 3,749, respectively. The upward trend continued in 2023, with 439 sub-3-hour finishers and 4,135 finishing in under 4 hours-representing nearly half of all participants. Similarly, performance in the half marathon category improved, with the number of runners finishing in under 100 minutes climbing from 581 in 2021 to 979 in 2023. These achievements reflect not only the resilience and dedication of Taipei’s running community post-pandemic but also the continual enhancements made to the event itself. Improvements to the race course, on-course support, traffic management, and community engagement have all contributed to a better experience for participants. As the highest-ranked marathon and road race in Taiwan, now holding the prestigious Gold Label certification, the Taipei Marathon is poised to attract even more elite and international competitors.
